High Energy Constructs presents Is that all there is to fire?, a group show organized by David Horvitz. Taking it’s title from a song written by Jerry Leiber and Mike Stoller (”Is That All There Is” originally recorded by Peggy Lee in 1969), Is that all there is to fire? is not really about bordeom at all, but instead brings together a variety of multi-media works which act as components that illuminate that which constitues boredom. Creating an open discourse on the theme, these components include: stillness, repetition, emptiness, voided time, banality, and the potential for possibility, impossibility, insatiability.

Via sound, video, film, photography, painting, drawing, silde projection, text, and other mediums the artists in this exhibition present a philosophical, political, and deliberate celebration of boredom.

The exhibition will include affiliated performances by Genevieve Castree, Barr, Grouper, Lucky Dragons, and Freddy Rupert, as well as an exhibition publication (on newsprint, in an edition of 2000, with 16 pages black and white and color) featuring writing and artwork by: John Sisley, Krysten Cunningham, Brandon Lattu, Uta Barth, Lindsay Ljungkull, Brendan Fowler, David Horvitz, Linda Theung & Becky Brister, Lia Trinka-Browner, Luke Fischbeck & Sarah Anderson, Cammie Staros, Ken Ehrlich, Zach Houston, Mira O’Brien, Xiu Xiu.
