High Energy Constructs presents TIME MACHINE - a group exhibition curated by Brad Eberhard, featuring work by Elonda Billera, Jessica Bronson, Joyce Campbell, Scott Cassidy, Greg Colson, Mike Cronin, Sean Duffy, Alexandre Lobanov, Dana Maiden, Monique Prieto, Antonio Adriano Puleo, and Ian Svenonius.
The exhibition brings together twelve artists from Los Angeles, New Zealand, Washington D.C., and Russia whose works share a curious relationship to time. Via assemblage, daguerreotype, painting, photography, sculpture, vegetable life, video, woodcuts, a book of essays, and other media - the artists assembled in TIME MACHINE deliberately confront and anachronistically explore a variety of notions and experiences with age, duration, and history.
Pouring libations to revive the spirits of the art historical past only then to kick ‘em in the shins is a ubiquitous trope of contemporary art practice that has been excluded from this exhibition. Rather, this grouping of temporal adventurers invites you to enter the tunnels and vessels that unexpectedly connect epochs and illusions of human experience and cultural production - demonstrating that, however scientifically impossible, time travel is at least artistically possible.
About the curator:
Brad Eberhard lives in Los Angeles where he makes art and rock n roll that travel freely through time.
